Day 1: Arrive in Chikmagalur 

Reach Chikmanglur and halt for a night.

Day 2: Chikmagalur to Mullayanagiri Peak and Back

  • Start your trek from Mullayanagirii base to reach Karnataka’s highest peak. 
  • The trail begins on a well-marked route with a steep ascent. You will traverse dense forests, lush green grasslands and rocky patches along the trail.
  • You will reach a cave after walking for a rough 1 to 2hrs depending on your speed. The cave is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Trekkers halt here for a short break to hydrate. 
  • The final leg of the trek is strenuous as the climb is challenging. You will be rewarded with breathtaking views once you reach the Mullayanagiri summit. 
  • Start descending to the base after indulging in the serene environment at the top. Retrace the same way to be back at the base. 

Day 3: Explore Chikmagalur 

  • Chikmagalur is a renowned hill station in Karnataka. You must explore the nearby places of interest when in town. You can explore the local market, visit the famous coffee museum and discover the rich coffee heritage of the region. 
  • Trekkers also explore Baba Budangiri a famous trekking trail, located near Mullayanagirii. The 10 km trek begins from Sarpadhari and takes roughly 5 to 6 hours to complete 
  • You can also go rafting in the Bhadra River. 
  • Visit Hebbe Falls, a beautiful waterfall nestled amidst lush green coffee plantations. 
  • Kudremukh is located around 59 km from Chikmagalur. You can also opt to explore the picturesque Kudremukh Trek. It takes two days to complete the trek.
